Nice article. Another thing to point out are the reports of the PS4 framerate issues. Killzone: Shadow Fall has tons of particle effects and such, but it has been reported that it is locked at 30fps with many constant dips.

That is not a good sign, especially with the ‘supercharged PC’ hardware they were touting so proudly. Gameplay always matters over graphics, but people forget to realise that often the best way to create a nice looking game is to make it a smooth 60fps. Sure, the screenshots might look a bit weird but in the end the game will not only look better in motion but feel better.

Three Reasons Why AAA Gaming Should Stop Worrying About Photo-Realistic Graphics

Thank you! I have been meaning to write another article but I’ve been moving etc. so it has been put on the backburner recently! Should start writing one soon, however.

Yeah, about FF13: you are completely right. That, unfortunately, really dragged down the gameplay (not to mention the story was a bit stupid (even by jrpg standards), the characters were unlikable or one-dimensional and the terminology was just ridiculous). When you get to the 20-hour-or-so mark, the game gets really good. In fact, the only time I genuinely enjoyed the game was after I completed it!

While Wii U Smash looks absolutely amazing, I would choose Monolith Soft’s X as the best upcoming Wii U title. It just looks like an overall improvement to Xenoblade Chronicles, which was probably the best jRPG of the ENTIRE generation. And it was running on extremely outdated hardware to boot.

I agree. The worst offense came from EA in the MS conference, I think, leading us all to believe that the Battlefield 4 showing was done real-time on an XBone when one can clearly see a prompt for the backspace key in the top right corner.

Why even try? When things are getting shown all over the world at the same time, chances are someone, somewhere is going to notice where you are blatantly lying to the audience.

Three Things We Took Away from E3 2013

The biggest issue with the loss of used games is not the price, it is the fact that not every single title ever created is available for digital download. Yes, the mark-up is obscene and services such as Steam often counter-act that, but sometimes there is just not another way to own a title than to buy it from some guy on eBay for $400/£300/€250. A recent example of this is the American copies of Xenoblade Chronicles or the Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Great article though, was a good read.

Thanks, it really means a lot. Your recent article looks very interesting but I have not had a chance to read it yet.

Honestly, I just love picking on the whole DMC4/DmC thing, because there are just so many interesting things about it. From the atrocious writing to the full-on insults directed towards the fans of the series, DmC was just a trainwreck of a videogame. I’d probably touch on it even more in another article.

Thanks for the input! I agree, most videogame stories do tend to suck yet they only get lauded because they are the only examples of a ‘polished’ story in videogames.
