The Satanic Verses By Salman Rushdie in today's world

The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie is a novel that came out in 1988 that was the most polarizing piece of fiction in that era. It outraged the Muslim community since a lot of the topics in the book criticize and question their faith; leading to a fatwa on the author's head. Rushdie was in hiding for a decade, and still to this day people are outraged by this book. To those who have read it, what do you think would happen if this book was released today, would it receive the same backlash and would Mr. Rushdie still have a death sentence subjected to him?

The Joker is iconic for many reasons. ” All it takes is one bad day” is a line from the villain via the comic ” The Killing Joke” and I think that is what the Joker is trying to argue. He does not believe in order and rejects the man made construct of society. Is Joker insane? Probably. Is society insane for the way it is run? Absolutely.

Why The Joker Is The Best Villain We Have Ever Seen

I have always viewed books and literature a more creative and imaginative medium for entertainment. Books should not be banned because it is up to the reader’s mind what each page is like via visualization within their imagination. Although there can be strife with certain concepts that several books have, freedom of expression should be a universal in regards to literature.

      Why Books Shouldn't Be Banned

I thoroughly enjoyed this show as well. Going to school in a big city while being a minority I could relate a lot of concepts and jokes this show has. My favourite episode by far is when Dev ( Played by Aziz Ansari) goes to his friend Denise’s ( Lena Waithe) for thanksgiving. When he tries to break the tension at the dinner by complimenting the yams and gets yelled at, I felt that in my soul.
